Tamron Hall Teaches Us Why Authenticity Wins

Tamron Hall Show - The Best Show

Aside from the abundance of “Black Girl Magic”, for women looking to get into the media industry, Tamron’s magic is many things. With about 28 years of experience in television, Tamron has put the work in and it shows through her poise and presence on television. Daytime television - to be exact, is all about image and perception. We look to show hosts to deliver news and current events while offering a fresh perspective in an already saturated industry. With such talent, how does one get labeled a “wrong choice”? The answer is simple. “Today” was not Tamron’s purpose.

If allowed, Tamron would have been even more successful at Today and undoubtably become a staple personality on America’s “Sweetheart Morning Show”. However, that simply would not have been enough. The first Black woman to co-anchor Today is a huge feet but, at the young age of 49, why is that? Why has there not been someone before Tamron?

In America, we have a habit of measuring accomplishments by the proximity of those accomplishments to whiteness. The Today Show has a history of scandal. From botched interviews and mixed up footage, news anchor outbursts, to Matt Lauer’s exile following allegations of sexual harassment. Despite the drama, we have all grown to know the Today Show as “just a part of life”. The reality is, Today has a history of misogyny and underrepresentation & underpayment of people of color. Many of our readers face that same adversity in the workplace. The bigger the platform the greater the politics.

Since her departure, Tamron has moved on to hosting her own show with ABC/Disney, the
“Tamron Hall Show”. Again, at the young age of 49, Tamron is well on her way to exponential greatness and we, her diligent fans, her supporters, are here to witness. Good job standing up for yourself Sis.
